A network that tests fine in March falls over in the second week of August. Occupancy triples, every guest arrives with three devices, and the same access point that served the bar in winter is now serving the bar, the terrace and the car park.

Design starts from peak concurrency, not floor area. Guest traffic gets separated from the till, the door entry and the cameras. In care settings that separation is not optional - nurse call, medication systems and staff devices should never be sharing a flat network with visitors.
